Recruitment is a dynamic and rewarding career that builds on the skills of every individual. And because It's all about people, everybody has the ability to become a supreme recruiter with the right development.

For the first stop in our Masters series, we sat down with Sophie Rowley 6 months after her latest promotion to Senior Recruitment Manager.

What’s your journey to Daniel Owen been like?

When I started my recruitment career, I worked at a small agency in Dulwich, which was only 10 minutes away from my parents' house. It was a big transition for me moving to London and starting a new career, but I was excited to see where it would take me. After two years here, I interviewed with several other agencies but the one I accepted right away was, of course, Daniel Owen! I chose them because I felt the role would really fit my personality and the interview process really helped me feel confident about the career ahead of me.

What was your experience like when you first started at Daniel Owen?

When I first started as a consultant at Daniel Owen, I was a bit nervous because it was such a big change for me. Moving to a new industry is quite challenging, but everyone around me, especially my managers, was really supportive and helped me to settle in. They took me out for drinks and showed me around the city as well, which certainly helped me feel at home!

How did you progress in your career at Daniel Owen?

After only a few weeks, I found my feet and became really happy and confident within my role. Fast forward a couple of years, and I was promoted to senior consultant, a long-term goal I'd set myself. My relationships with my colleagues on the floor were already really strong, and that helped me to bridge the gap between them and the next level of management. It felt really rewarding to be able to support them in the way that I would want to be supported, and therefore to help them achieve their goals. With my recent promotion, I felt recognised for the trust I had between the floor and upper management, which was a really fulfilling moment for me and one I will continue to build upon.

What are your goals for this year?

My main goal for this year is to continue developing my thriving team and help them achieve their goals. I want to make sure that everyone is succeeding and comfortable going into the next financial year. It's important to me that we end this year strong and start the new financial year with some brilliant momentum.

Did you ever imagine you'd rise to this level as quickly as you did?

When I first started as a consultant, I didn't really think about rising to a higher level. I was pretty focused on my desk and my individual goals. But as I got more involved in team leadership and saw the opportunities that were available, I started to see the potential for growth. I feel really grateful for the opportunities I've had so far and the support I've received along the way.

In one sentence, how would you describe Daniel Owen?

Daniel Owen is a company with a strong internal culture, a focus on growth and development, and a commitment to your success. =)
