General Role Description
The Company Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing financial insights to support data driven business decision-making. This role involves preparing financial reports, budgeting, tax management, and liaising with auditors and other key stakeholders.
Duties - Company Accountant
- Making sure the company remains compliant with UK law and regulations
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and business opportunities
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Develop quarterly/annual budgets and monitor financial performance
- Prepare financial forecasts
- Provide recommendations for cost optimisation
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings
- Stay updated with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Work with tax authorities and auditors as required
- Oversee invoicing, collections, and payments
- Negotiate and manage company insurances
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables to maintain cash flow
- Implement internal controls to prevent financial risks
- Review and approve expense reports and manage company credit cards
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Assist contract managers with contract financial performance
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Assisting the board of Directors/ senior management team where required
- Managing/ supporting payroll
- Oversee petty cash management
- Assist with financial/legal requirements within tenders
- Undertaking training where required
- Supporting change management and business development processes
