Quantity Surveyor - Highways & Groundworks
Location: Yard-based in Theydon Bois, Essex (with site travel across the South)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00-15:00 (some flexibility)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

A growing, family-run civil engineering contractor is on the lookout for a Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit team. Specialising in highways and groundworks, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QS to step into a role where you'll be hands-on and influential in the day-to-day running of a dynamic and growing business.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Running and managing sub-contractor accounts

• Procuring subcontractors and overseeing tender processes

• Measuring work completed across multiple sites in the South of England

• Document control - including drawings, materials, and variations

• Conducting regular site safety walks and reporting findings

• Preparing monthly CVRs and project forecasts to completion

• Recording, valuing, and negotiating variations

• Attending weekly meetings with both clients and internal team members

• Final account handling and remeasurement of completed works

About You:

• Solid background in quantity surveying, particularly within highways or groundworks

• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small, supportive team

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Confident communicator, comfortable attending client and internal meetings

• Full UK driving licence required
