Every year, we host our Worker of the Year Awards to recognise those outstanding workers from construction, rail, property services, maintenance, groundwork and engineering.
Below, you can find our winners for the 2021 Worker of the Year awards - individuals who have gone above and beyond, especially across the last 12 months and have been an outstanding example of the hard work that goes into these sectors.

Muhsin, winning our overall Worker of the Year award.
Always a delight and with a constant smile on his face, really has us beaming every time we come to say hi!

“Always arrived on site on time - was never late once throughout the entire 40 weeks he was on the project. I could always rely on him to handle his job duties, and he never approached us with problems. There were always suggestions and solutions. Worker of the Year 2021 - Bristol
Liam, the worker of the year for our Bristol Team

Lee, Walsall's Winner for Worker of the Year!
Constantly going above and beyond, whatever the weather, the hours, the locations, even a pandemic didn't faze his work!
The feedback from sites that have worked with Lee for years are always in awe of his outstanding work and unequalled timekeeping, a true legend.

Worker of the Year 2021 - Berkshire
Florin, our Regional Winner of the Worker of the Year 2021 in Berkshire!
Our own Kevin went to meet Florin on-site to present the award, someone who has always been a reliable and professional pillar on any site he's on.

Worker of the Year 2021 - Swindon
Dan, one of our first 2021 Workers of the Year and winner of the local Award at our Swindon Branch!
Our own Sophie Jones puts it best:
"Since he started he has never had a day off nor been late, he has taken his dumper ticket himself and is now going to be getting a permanent job with one of our contractors.
We have had nothing but positive feedback for him, saying how good he is on-site, hard-working and reliable. First job in construction as well, superb!"

Worker of the Year 2021 - Rail
Oluwole, the winner of our Worker of the Year Sector Award for Rail
Joe has long worked with Oluwole in the sector and some of the client feedback we've received says it all:
"Oluwole has worked alongside me for the last 4 years he never misses a shift he will work any location any day I need him to and will often work 6 days a week every week. Oluwole never misses a shift and I would say is a fantastic asset to your company. I have had many operatives for Daniel Owen come through my doors some do not last a week there some last a month so 4 years of service I feel needs to be and should be recognised."

Worker of the year 2021 - Newcastle
Steve, Newcastle's winner of 2021 Worker of the Year.
Described as 'exceptional on every site' and 'always willing to help', Steve has not slowed down even in the face of a global Pandemic!
Thank you Steve for everything, you're always brilliant to work with and bring a smile to our faces every time we catch up!
Worker of the Year 2021 - Maintenance
Ibrahim, our next 2021 Worker of the Year winning our Sector Award for Maintenance!
We received lots of positive feedback and nominations for Ibrahim, with Sophie Rowley summing it up best:
"Very reliable, worked for us for years and raved about by everyone. He has always stepped up for overtime and to cover shifts and has been a pleasure to work with.”

Worker of the Year 2021 - Leeds
Ken, our Worker of the Year award winner for our Leeds office.
Ken has always been an outstanding site manager, and we've3 received lots of nominations for him across the region!
Our own Tom Middleton puts it best with feedback:
"Ken has worked as a utility Site Manager through the entire pandemic. He’s had long periods on some sites, and then would go on to do a single week at a different site before adjusting his schedule yet again. He’s basically helped these sites wherever they need a body across the entire Yorkshire region. A true legend in what he keeps bringing to site!"

Worker of the Year 2021 - Commercial
Dean, the Winner of our Commercial Team Worker of the Year Award!
We've worked with Dean for a long time, and as well as his excellent work ethic, his smile and positive demeanour is just such a joy to be around. Our own Dan Skinner puts it best:
"Dean started work for Daniel Owen in a Supervisory position in 2008 and through the years has progressed to further roles including Quality Inspector and management roles picking up NVQ6 Management, NEBOSH and MCIOB amongst many other certificates. Great to be part of your journey Dean and thank you for your continued efforts."
