Recent Changes to CSCS Labourer and Trainee Cards (February 2025 Update)

CSCS has recently made important changes to Labourer and Trainee cards, affecting thousands of construction workers across the UK.

Here’s what you need to know:

• The labourer card will be reduced from five years' validity to two years. If a worker continues labouring after these two years, they can renew their card for five years if they can provide proof of employment.

• The trainee card will be available to those with certain job-related qualifications, helping new workers start a training pathway toward a recognised qualification and a shiny upgraded CSCS card.
  
  
• The CITB Health and Safety Environment Test, which is required for card application, will now be valid for three years, meaning it can be used for the 2-year renewal.

• Once you've passed the test and have the right qualifications, apply for your CSCS card through the official CSCS website.
